The
wedding will be held at the Pioneer
United Methodist Church in historic downtown Auburn, CA.
Carrie was raised in a Catholic family and John was raised in a
congregational church, so neither of us is Methodist, per se, but we
really liked the church and it is centrally located. The pastor
from Carrie's childhood church in Saratoga, Russ Ikeda, will be
officiating the ceremony. There is lots of information on the
Pioneer
website about the church itself, and they can be readily located by MapQuesting their
address at 1338 Lincoln Way in Auburn. If you are approaching
Auburn on I-80, exit at either Maple Street or Grass Valley Highway.
There is parking available behind and to the left side of the church. |
| The map on the right shows
how the area around Auburn is laid out. Auburn itself is 30-40
minutes east of Sacramento, the nearest major city. We chose
Auburn as the site for our wedding, because that is where Carrie's
parents moved to from the Bay Area after retiring. About 10 minutes east along I-80 is Meadow Vista, where the Winchester Country Club is located. This is where the reception will be held, and is fairly straight forward to find when coming from the church in Auburn. Carrie's parents belong to the club, and it became a special place for us as we got to know the surrounding area. About 10 minutes west, in the other direction from Auburn, along I-80 is Rocklin, where the Rocklin Park Hotel is located. We have blocked out the entire hotel for the wedding weekend, just mention the Polhemus-Wei wedding when booking your room to get the discounted wedding rates. Auburn is less than an hour's drive from Sugarbowl, the closest major Lake Tahoe ski resort, and about three hour's drive from the San Francisco Bay Area. There's a ton of activities to keep you occupied if you decide to spend some extra time in the area during your visit. |
